This data is intended to be used as a descriptive planning tool. This data set is not intended to be used as a definitive boundary for any municipality. The municipal charter and other legal documents give the legal boundaries of each municipality. This data set was originally created as part of a project involving the Delaware Office of State Planning Coordination (OSPC) and the University of Delaware Institute for Public Administration (IPA) to update and maintain a GIS database of the municipal boundaries of Delaware places.
